The Face Behind It All :)
Hi, I’m Faith. Photographer + Storyteller, and heart behind Picture Jenny Faith.
I’m an adventurer with an old soul, a lover of people (and animals, of course), and someone completely on fire for Jesus. I believe life is meant to be lived with kindness, laughter, joy, and a deep appreciation for the beauty tucked into both the big milestones and the quiet little in-betweens.
And because I have a gift for rambling (in the best way possible), that’s what this blog will be — a place to share stories, reflections, and all the messy, beautiful moments that make life what it is; unscripted if you will.
I’m so happy you’re here, and I can’t wait to share this little corner of my heart... and mind with you.
It's crazy that life can look so incredibly different just 14 months apart. If you would have asked me last year what I thought my life might look like today, my answer would have been so far off… and let me just say, thank the Lord for that; what a blessing it has been.
I don’t want to forget any of this, so I’ve decided to start a blog. This is a long time coming… but recent events in life have really pushed me into doing it now and to quit waiting for a perfect time, because truly, perfect is unrealistic and I don't want it.
I'm calling this blog “Picture Me Rambling,” a play on my photography business name, Picture Jenny Faith, as well as a very well-said phrase. Literally, picture me, Faith, rambling? Extremely fitting for anyone who knows me. This is the first of many blogs to come (promise they won’t all be this long, to be fair; this is 14 months of my life!).
This time last year, I couldn’t have imagined where I’d be today.
A fresh college graduate, trying to figure out my next steps, and holding onto a dream of traveling the world with my camera.
Life, however, had other plans. God’s plans.
And in His timing, the first domino fell in May 2024…
In May 2024, two big things happened almost back-to-back.
First, a major and unexpected life change; we won't dwell on that too much. Just know I never would have gotten through that by myself.
And second, I graduated from trade school with the hope of becoming a photographer, free to travel and capture what I love most; all of God’s work.
The world, the people and their stories.
At the time, I was working part-time as a barista and doing photography on the side, not taking it seriously yet. Funny enough, the way I got that barista job had God’s fingerprints all over it, though I didn’t realize it at the time.
For a class project, I was supposed to film a commercial for a local business. I walked in to ask the owners if they were interested… and walked away with a job.
What I didn’t know then was that the Lord was planting me exactly where I needed to be. He surrounded with people who radiated His love and joy. He knew before me what was coming, and I would need Him deeply, so He placed me in an environment where seeds could be planted.
More than a dream
On June 22, 2024, I photographed my first wedding ever. A family friend trusted me with their big day and I will never forget that day — the joy, the love, the laughter.
I learned so much, had so much fun, and got to be surrounded by people in love, which has always been one of my favorite things.
Booking that wedding so soon after graduating gave me a new kind of confidence. Nott just in my photography, but in myself. Up until then, photography had mostly been a side gig, a hobby. But after that day, I started to believe it could be more.
Annual family vacation
Our family trip to Beaufort, SC, was usually a week long.
This year was different. I was a graduate, traveling solo for the first time. Just the year before, I’d traveled with someone I thought would always be part of my life… but that was my plan, not the Lord’s.
While out exploring one day, we decided to grab iced coffees (except for my dad, who insists on hot coffee year-round). We wandered into a little Lowcountry market, and as usual, I struck up a conversation with a stranger. By the end of it, I had a contact and a barista interview lined up.
Looking back at photos, I can’t help but smile at the shirt I happened to be wearing that day. It said “Made for More” on the front, and listed each fruit of the Spirit on the back. At the time, I just thought it was a cute and inspiring shirt. But now? I can see how perfectly it foreshadowed the season I was stepping into: a season of being stretched, refined, and reminded daily that I was made for more than what I could see in front of me.
*Important for later in the read :)*
Tourist turned local
Two days later, I was hired. My start date? July 8th. So instead of leaving with my family, I stayed.
I hadn’t packed for living there, sooooo, naturally, I hit the thrift stores for work clothes.
And just like that, I was playing barista again.
Life in the lowcountry
Living in the Lowcountry brought a mix of freedom, challenge, and growth. It was my first time living on my own — terrifying at first, but also freeing. I spent my days exploring new corners of the area, meeting people from all over the world, and learning more about who I am and what I want out of life. Working as a barista wasn’t just a job; it was a chance to connect; I actually always called it "playing barista" because It almost never felt like it was work.
Every day brought new stories, new faces, and a little taste of travel through the people I met.
Making friends during rush
Sunday mornings at the coffee shop were always a rush, but November 17th was especially busy. Guess what shirt I put on that morning? If you guessed the “Made for More” shirt you would be correct. (I did say this shirt was significant)
I was moving as fast as I could, glancing at tickets, making drinks, keeping up with the flow.
While glancing over at my next ticket I saw a woman in a gorgeous dress. I complimented her, and she thanked me, patiently waiting for her order.
I thought nothing of it; it was a pretty dress, I noticed and I complimented.
(Will never keep a compliment to myself. You never know what someone's going through. Say what you feel and mean what you say)
About 20 minutes passed by, that same woman came back and asked me a question I'm not sure I had ever been asked before:
“Are you a believer? I saw your shirt.”
I told her yes, and we both expressed how difficult it had been to meet other like-minded individuals in Beaufort... so we exchanged contacts.
She left, but her unafraidness/ way she carried herself in that question stayed with me.
That woman, her name, Veda, quickly became someone near and dear to my heart. She shared her testimony with me, mine with her and it truly catapulted my walk with the Lord. God had put her in my path at exactly the right time. (He's so cool with that, imagine NEVER being late. Just simply on TIME. oh wait, we are...HIS TIME)
Maybe this will show just how busy that specific Sunday morning was.
Two-week notice
I kept juggling all of my commitments, playing barista, traveling back and forth, and photography on the side — until one day, something clicked. I was talking to one of my favorite regulars, an artist herself, I always called her "wonder woman" , when it hit me: my photography has value, and I need to start treating it that way.
I thought, If this is my dream, why am I pouring so much into other cups? It was clear: I needed to put all my eggs in one basket. I had to believe in myself and give this whole photography thing a real shot.
As bittersweet as it was, I put in my two-week notice at the coffee shop. Over the next two weeks, I told all of my coworkers, who had quickly become good friends to me, that I was leaving — as well as all of the coffee shop regulars. While it was sad telling everybody they would no longer see me behind the bar, I was met with nothing but encouragement and belief that I was doing the right thing. Everyone was so excited for me, and I promised to still be around.
December 23 was my last day playing barista. So bittersweet. I went home to the Upstate for Christmas break.
January 2025
When I returned to the Lowcountry in mid-January, I hit the ground running. Even though I had no idea what I was doing, or where I was going.
I started building a website, finalized a logo design, and got business cards made. Bookings were slow at first — mostly because I hadn’t been advertising myself the way I should have been (in retrospect).
Scared, but doing it anyways.
To help with that, I started enlisting friends I’d made in town for creative shoots to build out my portfolio and showcase my capabilities. I also began walking around downtown, approaching couples or families for free impromptu sessions, then handing them a business card. It was a fun, hands-on way to get my name out there in a new town.
While bookings were slow, it was actually a blessing — though at the time, I didn’t see it that way. I honestly thought I had made the biggest mistake of my life and that I was about to watch my dreams crumble right at my feet before I’d even had a real chance to get them off the ground. I was terrified.
However, I stayed faithful and obedient to the Lord. Why would He place a desire on my heart if it wasn’t meant for me? He called me to this for a reason — who was I to deny the calling He had over my life?
BINGO
I persisted with photography, determined to make it work. I even made a “bingo board” full of goals I wanted to accomplish by the end of 2025. I kept these goals challenging but realistic — not too easy, but not impossible, especially as someone so new to running a business.
Everything in my life at that point felt new, like uncharted territory. It was scary, but I knew that all it takes is a mustard seed of faith — and I had that.
Shocking text
Then it happened. One of those moments where you realize everything you’ve been doing: the late nights, the free sessions, the endless hustling, it wasn’t for nothing. Remember Veda? The girl I met during a random Sunday morning rush while playing barista. That Veda yes.
She asked me to photograph her wedding in March. Not just any wedding — her wedding. I had only photographed one wedding ever, and here she was, trusting me to capture a day she would remember for the rest of her life.
That booking completely exceeded my expectations. Not just in the opportunity itself, but in the confirmation that the Lord was guiding every step. That day, I felt it clearly: this wasn’t just a hobby, a side gig, or a dream on pause. This was my calling unfolding, piece by piece, exactly as He intended.
From that moment on, I committed fully; heart, time, and energy to giving my photography everything I had.
After this booking, my confidence skyrocketed in ways I didn’t know possible or even know I needed. By the time March came around, I had three sessions and one wedding booked. This was CRAZY — unheard of for me. I had never had so many clients book me in the same month. That bingo board I mentioned earlier? One of the goals on it was to book a single wedding in the year and two sessions every month. It was January, and I had already booked a wedding! On top of that, I had other bookings for months out.
The Lord will always provide.
Ever since the day Veda asked me to photograph her wedding, my business has been absolutely booming. The Lord has been showing up in ways I didn’t even know were possible. As I write this in August, 2025, I have had the honor of photographing two weddings, a third booked, three proposals, four engagements, one elopement, over twenty first-time clients, and several returning clients. Me, a year ago, would have NEVER believed this was possible!
Long story short, I had one person believe in me, and it caused a ripple effect. My confidence in myself and my work grew, and suddenly, my photography business began to flourish. Matthew 17:20 reminds us that all it takes is a mustard seed of faith. Throughout these past 14 months, I’ve held on to that mustard seed. Each person and place the Lord has put me in front of has grown my faith in incredible ways. Veda nurtured that mustard seed of faith in me — showing me that I could possibly do this whole business thing. Ever since, my growth and business have flourished.
I began building my business on the one who created me rather than on the world around me. I started believing that if He called me to something, there was purpose in it. I realized that I am who He says I am. I just have to have a mustard seed of faith — to believe that the One who gave me this business idea will provide the clients.
At the end of the day, I know that the One who put this calling on my heart would never give me something I’m not capable of.
A Sneak Peek into some of the moments I captured this past year :)
And now, I’m writing this blog to announce my next leap of faith, the next chapter in the life story I’ll one day have:
Girl gone Glacier
I’ve just accepted a job to live and work in the Glacier National park for a little bit. I have no idea what the Lord has in store for me there, but I do know how undeniably called I feel to this next season. I have no idea what might happen, but He does, and I trust Him fully.
How in the world this came aboout you may ask???
A random job application turned into an interview. I interviewed for the job on a Tuesday at 3:45 PM and was told I’d have an offer letter in my inbox before the end of the day. I had a five-hour drive ahead to meet my friend, Hanna Grace (HG) and her parents at Edisto. Before I arrived, there it was — the job offer, and a huge decision to make within four days.
I knew this was a life-changing choice. I prayed in passing, chatted with HG about it, but I hadn’t slowed down to really hear what God had to say.
Knowing this and feeling as anxious as ever, on Friday night, I stepped outside to the patio of our room, just me and the Lord. No distractions.
I asked the Lord to give me peace in whatever decision I was going to make. Something I learned early in my walk with Him is that He will never give you peace somewhere you don’t belong. Peace is so huge, especially with a decision like this.
BUT GOD
Saturday morning rolled around, and we packed up to head back to Beaufort. On the way, I felt this little nudge from the Lord — you know the kind that doesn’t make sense but you just know you need to listen? He put it on my heart to stop at this random coffee shop I’d only been to once before.
Within two minutes of walking in, I spotted a woman wearing a shirt that read “but God.” Of course, I had to say something — I complimented her shirt, and she immediately pointed at mine: “Friend of God.” That opened the door to one of those conversations where you can just feel God weaving it together. We started talking about spreading His love, and how sometimes even something as simple as a T-shirt can plant a seed in someone’s heart.
A few minutes later, her husband and my friend Hanna joined us, and I felt this tug to ask where they were from. So I did. And, almost in unison, they both said: “Montana.”
I had never met anyone from Montana in my life.
I just stood there for a second — because here I was, praying about this job in Montana, praying for peace in whatever my decision may be, and suddenly the Lord meets me in a coffee shop through this sweet couple.
I explained the situation, the job, my prayer for peace, and right there in the middle of that coffee shop, without hesitation, both the husband and wife laid hands on me, praying over me, over the opportunity, not if, but when.
There it was. That peace I was praying for just the night before. The kind you don’t question because you know it comes straight from the Lord. I knew then that Montana was next. Even if it’s just for a season, I’m going — not with fear, but with obedience.
And the wildest part? That couple wasn’t even planning to stop there. They had only pulled in to use the restroom. They’ll probably never know how much of an impact they had on me that day — how their obedience, their intentionality, and their willingness to simply listen to God changed my heart completely. But that’s the beauty of it: every single detail had to line up perfectly for that moment to happen. And it did. Not because of coincidence, but because of God’s perfect timing.
And here’s the thing — it wasn’t just that couple. Time and time again, the Lord kept meeting me, often in coffee shops through people I never expected.
Each conversation, each stranger turned friend, carried a reminder that God is always at work. Sometimes through conversation, sometimes through a shirt, just always working and never failing.
Looking back, I can see so clearly how nothing in life is random.
Every person, every word, every stop along the way, it's all lined up perfectly, not by coincidence, but by His perfect timing.
This time next week I will be in Montana!
This time next week, I’ll be settling into Montana. Stepping into the unknown, but holding tightly to the One who already knows the way.
In this season, I ask for your prayers and support as I step into this new chapter. I feel so grateful and beyond blessed to be living out my dreams, and I am SO excited and cannot wait to see all that the Lord has in store.
If you feel led to support me financially along the way it is so greatly appreciated.
My Venmo is @Faiths11
And I'd love it if you’d like to keep up with me on this journey, you can follow along through my photography at Picture Jenny Faith and right here on this blog, where the rambling is just getting started. Who knows, me and the Lord might meet up for coffee...again :)
With SO much love (and probably too many words),
Picture Jenny Faith — out ✌️
See you next time! <3
